Upon graduating high school in the suburban paradise that is Fresno, CA, Aaron realized his two greatest passions in life were poker and filmmaking. \u00a0So naturally, he decided to use his poker winnings to pay his way through film school at the University of California, San Diego.<\/p>\n
The defining moment in Aaron\u2019s life came at age 25 when he unexpectedly inherited his father\u2019s engineering business. Wanting to both honor his family and continue his path toward writing, he took on the task of working as a writer\u2019s PA by day and CEO by night. That whirlwind experience led to new writing samples, landing Aaron a coveted spot in the Disney ABC Television Writing Program. \u00a0Soon after, he was hired as a staff writer aboard the ABC show,\u00a0Cougar Town,\u00a0<\/em>where he wrote his first produced episode and dated many cougars in the name of research.<\/p>\n Afterward, Aaron was hired onto the\u00a0hit Disney Channel sitcom,\u00a0Austin & Ally<\/em>. \u00a0During his four years on staff, he wrote fifteen episodes for the series, rose to the level of co-producer, and learned everything needed if he\u2019d like to switch careers and become an overnight, teenage, pop star.<\/p>\n Following that, Aaron wrote for several comedy-variety specials produced by Nickelodeon, such as\u00a0the\u00a0Ho Ho Holiday Special<\/em>,\u00a0Not So Valentine\u2019s Special,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Sizzling Summer Camp Special.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>This began a long and continuous friendship with the network, culminating in the sale of multiple pilot scripts with another comedy currently in development.<\/p>\n Aaron then ventured into the world of animation, writing on staff for the original Netflix series, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!<\/em>, followed by a stint on his dream job \u2013 writing for the final season of ABC\u2019s groundbreaking comedy, Fresh Off The Boat<\/em>.<\/p>\n In addition, Aaron\u2019s past writings have earned him the New Writers Award given by the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE), and a Finalist Award at the Austin Film Festival Teleplay Competition.<\/p>\n Aaron\u2019s writing mainly focuses on stories featuring culture clash, lovable losers, and loud families oddly similar to his own.\u00a0 It\u2019s only fitting as these themes are ever-present in his personal life. \u00a0Aaron recently married his longtime girlfriend \u2013 a vivacious, white, country gal from middle-of-nowhere Montana who has somehow managed to win over his strict Chinese immigrant family.<\/p>\n When not writing, Aaron can be found playing poker to fund his addiction to Southern California theme parks or adoring his spoiled ragdoll cat, Lilo, named after the titular character of his favorite film.\u00a0 He’s also the\u00a0founder and organizer of the WGA Poker Group<\/a> — a private club for writers and executives to engage in friendly card games while making new connections and really getting to know each other\u2019s poker faces.<\/p>\n Aaron is repped by RBEL Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Upon graduating high school in the suburban paradise that is Fresno, CA, Aaron realized his two greatest passions in life were poker and filmmaking. \u00a0So naturally, he decided to use his poker winnings to pay his way through film school at the University of California, San Diego.
